FuelCell Energy (NASDAQ: FCEL) this morning said it has secured a 20 megawatt fuel cell project with Korea Southern Power Company (KOSPO). The company intends to utilize the SureSource 3000™ power plant to cleanly produce electricity and thermal energy to support a district heating system. FuelCell expects to operate and maintain the installation under a 20-year service agreement. The company intends for the facility to be operational in 2018. “Our multi megawatt, scalable easy-to-site clean energy solutions are well-suited for utility-scale applications such as this project,” FuelCell Energy president and CEO Chip Bottone stated in the news release. Following this announcement, the company also announced the pricing of a $33.5 million convertible preferred stock transaction this morning.
